About Me

I run a Private Practice where I rent a room in a beautiful 15th century building called Pure Alternative Therapy, in Alton. I am positive that the tranquil ambience of the building enhances our therapy sessions.

I am a compassionate and non-judgemental counsellor. Discretion, confidentiality and privacy are a top priority for me. Born in Amsterdam and having lived abroad for many years, I am comfortable working with people from different nationalities, religions, cultures and sexual orientations. I truly welcome diversity and my experience of life in the Armed Forces has given me yet another perspective for working with veterans. I speak Dutch, English and German fluently, slow French and know lots of words in many languages.

I trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor because I wholeheartedly believe in the importance of that human connection in our sessions, but over the years I have integrated valuable insights, exercises and know-how of other theories. So, I became a Person Centred/Integrative Counsellor.

This can only happen when you take your own professional and personal development very seriously and are open to new ideas and learning. Valuable research cannot be ignored and as a Senior Accredited and Registered BACP counsellor, I have the benefit of being able to access new information. I find attending workshops on varied topics energising and I hope this shows in my work too.

As a specialised Palliative Counsellor, I tend to see clients in their home, in hospital, hospice or nursing home, especially when ill health prevents clients from travelling. Of course this is where telephone counselling can also play a vital role.

Before starting my private practice, I was a counsellor with the Patient and Families Services Team at Thames Hospice in Windsor for eight years. I was a trained volunteer in the Day Care Centre and In Patient Unit for many years and ended up as a Trustee for the hospice for nearly 6 years.

Since then I trained as a Soul Midwife and Reiki Practitioner and regularly facilitate Death Café's in the local area with a colleague.
